Für Motorradfahrer liegt das malerische Echternach in einer sehr attraktiven Gegend (Müllerthal, Sauertal, Vianden, Moseltal sind nicht weit entfernt...). Im 8. Jh. gründete der Hl. Willibrord hier ein Kloster, in dem das Evangelium der Freude das Leben prägte; von hier aus wurden die Kultur und das Glaubensleben der umliegenden Gegenden wesentlich geprägt. Insbesondere ist Echternach auch wegen seiner Handschriften bekannt (Codex aureus). Heutzutage kommen jährlich noch an die 10.000 Wallfahrer an Pfingstdienstag zur Springprozession.

Unsere Idee war es, die Bikercommunity, in der viele soziale und religiöse Unterschiede unbedeutend sind, an diesem Ort zu versammeln, dessen Geschichte weiter hinter die Reformation an die Quellen des Glaubenslebens zurückführt, um hier, in unserer Zeit, uns für das sinn- und freiheitsstiftende Wort des Evangeliums zu öffnen.

Die BikerInnen haben den Gottesdienstbesuch mit internationalen Begegnungen und einer schönen Tour in der Umgegend zu verbunden.

Pour les motocyclistes, la pittoresque ville d’Echternach est située dans une zone très attractive (le Müllerthal, la Sûre, Vianden, la Vallée de la Moselle ne sont pas très loin...). Au VIII^e siècle, St Willibrord a fondé un monastère dans lequel la joie de l’évangile imprégnait la vie ; à partir d’ici, la culture et la vie de foi ont influencé les zones environnantes. Echternach est particulièrement connue à cause de ses manuscrits (Codex aureus). De nos jours, chaque année environ 30.000 pèlerins se retrouvent le mardi de Pentecôte dans la ville de St Willibrord pour participer à la procession dansante.

Notre idée était de rassembler la communauté des motocyclistes, où les nombreuses différences sociales et religieuses ne sont pas significatives, en cet endroit (Echternach) dont l’histoire les ramène bien loin avant la Réforme aux sources vives de la foi, pour nous ouvrir ici, dans notre aujourd’hui, à la parole libératrice de l’Évangile qui sait donner sens et goût à la vie.

For motorcyclists, the picturesque town of Echternach is located in a very attractive area (the Müllerthal, the river Sauer, the city of Vianden and the Moselle valley are not very far…). In the 8^th century, St. Willibrord founded a monastery in which the joy of the gospel permeated life; starting from here, the culture and life of faith have influenced the surrounding areas. Echternach is particularly known because of its manuscripts (Codex aureus). Nowadays, around 30,000 pilgrims gather every year on Whit Tuesday for the “dancing procession.”

Our idea was to bring together the community of motorcyclists, where the many social and religious differences are not significant, here in the city of Echternach, whose history leads us far before the Reformation to the living sources of faith. In our time, we want to open ourselves to the liberating and meaning-giving Word of God.
